Abstract
Mucin-producing cystic tumors of the pancreas are arre. These tumors are usually confined to the body or tail of the pancreas. Definite diagnosis is established by histological findings of tumor itself. Cystadenomas and cystadenocarcinomas are
treated
by surgical extirpation. The prognosis of cystadenocarcinoma is relatively good. We experienced one case of cystadenocarcinoma of the head of pancreas in sixty seven year-old male patient who had been suffered from fatigue and discomfort in right
upper
quadrant for a month. Abdominal ultrasound, abdominal CT and UGI series done before operation suggested cystic mass of the head of the pancreas. The patient underwent Whipple's operation. The pathologic findings were consistent with those of
mucinous
cystadenocarcinoma of the head of the pancreas. The gross findign showed a well defined multilocular cyst in the uncinate process without connection to dilated main pancreas duct or distal common bile duct. The microscopic findings showed
multilocular
cysts lined by atypical mucinous epithelium intermixed with some goblet cells and surrounded by less cellular stroma. Therefore, we report the case with a review of literature.
